Course Description- Mandarin Chinese
.
The purpose of this course is to help students who are interested
in learning Mandarin Chinese to develop basic Chinese communication skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The
goal is to help students use Chinese to exchange information and to communicate their ideas.

This course will be divided into three main parts. In the first part
we will emphasize learning both listening and speaking skills through the use of pinyin. In the second part we will learn
sentences to introduce the basic structures and grammatical points. In the third part we will learn Chinese characters. This
will introduce the basic strokes and the order of strokes. Students are expected to recognize all the characters in the vocabulary
list and memorize their meanings. These parts should be taken in order, since each of them builds on the previous ones.
